WWF WrestleMania

Mind you, I've seen this event many times before. But I'm watching with different eyes now. Here's my assessment:

The WWF's answer to NWA Starrcade showed me a couple of things. 1st was that WWF decided then that they were going the Entertainment route. 2nd was that there matches were much more thought out and executed better than NWA's offering. Of course at the top, NWA had some of the best @ the time. But, WWF had started pulling the mid-card guys from Jim Crockett including: Ricky Steamboat, Greg Valentine & Roddy Piper.

It was rag tag @ times like Lord Alfred Hayes' match previews. But the matches were entertaining. Ricky Steamboat & Matt Borne was a technically sound match. King Kong Bundy's squash of S.D. Jones was an example of putting someone over big time. They claimed it lasted 9 seconds, but my mental count was 23 seconds. Guess they didn't understand the magic video would provide a couple years later lol.

I only saw 1 or 2 of Bruno Sammartino's matches, but seeing 1 of his son, David's showed me he had nothing on his pops. Brutus Beefcake was an awesome name for the time. Greg "The Hammer" Valentine was a master in his match with Junkyard Dog. Cheat to win has been around long before Eddie Guerrero. Although the ref restarted the match & Valentine was counted out it was still a great match. But, I do hate that a ref will restart or reverse a decision in one match, but 2 matches later in the Tag Title match Barry Windham is hit with a cane & pinned & it is not challenged. Why didn't Tito Santana run down there for that one?

In the Main Event, WWF Champion , Hulk Hogan & Mr. T challenged "Mr. 1derful" Paul Orndorff and Roddy Piper seconded by another NWA defector, Bob Orton . Starrcade 84 was topped when WWF got Muhammad Ali as the Special Enforcer in response to Joe Frazier calling the Main Event between Dusty Rhodes & Ric Flair. With Mr. T they focused on the amateur wrestling and Hogan took the beating to set up a hot tag to T that was cut off quick, so they build back to Hogan coming in. Alot of chaos but not in a bad way. Orton accidentally hit orndorff with the cast to cost them the match & then him & Piper walked out on the 1derful One leaving him to apparently turn face.

Overall much more entertaining than the 2 offerings by NWA so far.

4 out of 5 stars.

Jacc Movez on up!

My trainer, Mike Modest, got us an invitation to come out to PCW in Oroville on Feb 13th. We were told we probably wouldn't work the show, but to come out anyway and meet some of the guys and let em know who we are. Get out there basically. Setting up the ride situation didn't go as planned (Sorry Mikey!) but we rode up there 5 deep in a lil Toyota. Needless to say, it was cramped in the back.

We got there a lil later than they wanted, but nobody was trippin. That's cool. We introduced ourselves to everybody & shook hands. A lil while later, I was approached about being in the Last Man Standing Rumble match. Somebody must not have been able to make it. So, of course I accept.

The LMS was the Main Event, so I hung out backstage. Sneaked a couple peeks throughout the show. I was markin a lil on the inside because of some of the guys I was back there with. The only boys there I had worked with before were Mike Omega & Frisco Flame.
So, I drew number 1 in the LMS. Not so good. But, then I was approached during my entrance by Markus Mac. He offered me a briefcase full of money for my spot in the LMS. I wasn't sure what to do. The winner of the LMS would be crowned PCW Heavyweight Champion. Now, knowing that I'm number 1 and it would be a long haul trying to last an hour and go through 28 other guys (and 1 woman), I decided to take the big payday.

We'll see if the decision pays off for me in the end, but right now, I'm feelin pretty good about things.

After the show, we went to the Pub across the street. Never been to a "Pub" before, but it was cool. We had a beer, and then went on our merry way back home to Sac. What happened when I got back to Sac was another story for another blog. Maybe I'll write about it.

I'm out, for now

College Football Tournament

For those that are curious, which by checking my views on jaccmovez.blogspot.com that there's not many lol, what I am doing is conducting a College Football Tournament to determine a National Champion. The Right Way! By playing the games.

I ranked the teams using several sources: BCS Standings, AP Poll, Coaches Poll & others.

I used all 68 teams that made it to the Bowl Season.

I am letting these games play out on my PS2 version of NCAA Football 08. Couldn't afford a newer game, lol.

The higher ranked team is the home team. (For now. I'm contemplating playing the next rounds in the Bowl Stadiums since if this was to come true they would probably be played in the bowl cities.)

What do I hope to accomplish by holding this event? Nothing. I'm just having fun.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask. Thanks for reading.

College Basketball: Michigan @ Wisconsin 1/20/10

So, I was watching the Michigan-Wisconsin game today. Unfortunately for me, my DVR had cut off a half hour early. The Wolverines led 39-33 with 7:39 left. WHAT HAPPENED? I go online & check the score & the Badgers won 54-48. It was a low scoring game in the 1st half. 21-18 Michigan, in fact. Apparently Wisconsin found their rhythm. It was supposed to be a good year for my squad, but they have been inconsistent at best. I hope they can get it together & maybe play sleeper in the Tourney. But, it's not looking good right now.
